What is WAMM?
WAMM is about all things Malaysian Made in all things creative and entertaining, be it movies, music, theatre, stand-up, comics, art, ANYTHING. If it’s Malaysian Made, we’re there. From huge productions to lil’ indie upstarts we want to be your alternative online resource website to find all that is wonderful, quirky and cool in this lovely country of ours.
We don’t just tell you about events, we make events happen! WAMM actively organizes screenings of curated Malaysian Made flicks combined with performances of local acts and Q&A’s at the Actors Studio Lot 10. So far we’ve screened films by a host of local filmmakers such as Aravind Abraham, Benji Lim, Sharifah Amani, Nadiah Hamzah, Khairil M. Bahar and Julianne Block as well as performances from local acts such as Once Upon A Time There Was A Sausage Named Bob and Rollin’ Sixers. For 2012 onwards, we’re looking to branch out our events to even more venues so keep your eyes peeled on WAMM!
We don’t just write about what’s going on, we tell you what’s going on with our very own podcast – WAMMcast! Hosted by Khairil M. Bahar and Amelia Chen, WAMMcast is an hour long (yes, an hour long!) podcast where we interview people from the local creative industry to talk about their upcoming projects, how they got to where they are and their creative process. And when there’s no one to interview, Khai and Amelia talk about what’s going on in the local industry, all whilst meandering into random jokes and silliness.
It’s no surprise there’s more than one filmmaker contributing on WAMM, so it would be a bit silly if we didn’t have any video content! From cool events to eventually our own nutty content, be sure to check in on the WAMM youtube page regularly for the latest updates!
