Here’s another FREE Mini Guitar Lesson by Az Samad. Watch the video below:
This jazz lick combines approach notes, arpeggios and bebop scale lines:
a) Approach notes to the 3rd of E Major (A F# G)
b) E Major Arpeggio (G# B E G#)
c) E Mixo Bop line (F# F E Eb D C# B A)
d) G#min7b5 arpeggio/ E9 (no root) = (G# B D F#)
e) E7 arpeggio (E G# B D)
f) 2-octave E Mixo Bop descending scale (E Eb D C# B A G# F# E Eb D C# B A G# F# E)
This phrase is inspired by the music of Pat Martino and Tal Farlow. You can use this phrase as a basis for different lines that use arpeggios and bebop scales.
Practice this line slowly first and then with the metronome, learn to play it faster and more fluid. Take your time.
In addition to working on this line, try writing your own lines and licks to get more benefit from this lesson. If you’re really up for a challenge, learn each line in as many positions as possible on the guitar and play it in different keys. Good luck!
