This weekend, The Edge goes live on stage. And I couldn’t help myself but get all emotional and nostalgic. I ended up typing out a little blog post on my personal website. Instead of making you click to go read on my website, I’ll just repost it here :
I cannot reiterate this enough. You must watch it. Click to buy tickets online.
The video posted here brings back memories, a rehearsal session from 2008. The Edge is the very first musical I ever attempted in my career as an actor/performer. Back at a time when I wouldn’t touch a musical with a 10 foot pole, I somehow managed to get in on the workshop performance of this amazing piece. If it wasn’t for this musical, I would never even think about attempting all the musicals I did after that. (ADAM the musical, Kiss of the Spiderwoman and next year, SINBAD the musical)
At the time, I was singing with some of KL’s finest in the performing arts scene: Zalina Lee, Janet Lee, Ho Soon Yoon, Samuel Tseu and (at the time, a newbie but powerhouse singer) Sheryl Chong. It was a daunting but remains to be one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve ever had as a performer. The idea was that it would be a workshop performance before going into a full on stage production in the following year. I may or may not have been part of the actual production. But for me, I was already feeling like the luckiest idiot in the world to have stumbled into such a stellar production.
Today it is being performed by a talented & star studded cast! : Peter Ong, Tria Aziz, Nadia Aqilah Bajuri, Safia Hanifah, Joshua Gui and Sean Chong. It is guaranteed to blow your socks and mind. I say again. You. Must. Watch. It.
