The Backstage Life Ep 39 : Macbett

The Scottish play, within the theatre circle, is highly regarded as the most riddled with superstition as well as one of William Shakespeare’s most prolific play and back in 1972, Eugene Ionesco decided to do his own take on the tale. Fast forward to 2013 and director Kelvin Wong has decided to bring this little piece of absurdist theatre to Malaysian audiences. Macbett is a story of a familiar world gone insane. Irreverently written, it takes your preconceived notions about ambition, politics and theatre and turn it into a never-ending nightmare, so be prepared to throw the sanctimonious out the window 😉
